Mission
Community Food Advocates (CFA) is a policy impact organization working to reform policies and programs relating to food and income so they are more equitable and accessible to low-income New Yorkers. Core to our mission is ensuring that communities most directly impacted by these policies and programs play a leading role in the advocacy process. What We Do
CFA works to expand and improve child nutrition programs to support children’s health and learning capacity, and increase access to nutritious food for all New Yorkers, especially the two million living in poverty.CFA specifically focuses on New York City’s School Breakfast and Lunch Programs in public schools; the Summer Food Service Program; and WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children), seeking innovative ways to increase participation in these programs. One of our major initiatives is the “Lunch 4 Learning” campaign, launched 3 years ago to fight for universal free school lunch for all New York City public school students.
