Project details

What we need
  • A concise, well-articulated letter (not exceeding two pages) to request funds from individual donors
Additional details

History UnErased, in partnership with Eric Marcus and Making Gay History - The Podcast, has a unique opportunity to bring never-heard-before archival audio oral history testimony into K-12 classrooms to help teach LGBT+-inclusive social studies. We are looking for funding support in order to develop, produce, and distribute educator resources at no charge to K-12 schools - and we have developed (over the course of many years) distribution channels with NYC DOE, MA DESE, CA DOE, the Library of Congress, National Park Service, ONE Archives Foundation, National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), and more.

What we have in place
  • We currently have impact data from K-12 educators and testimonials, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have educator resources online, an UnEras, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,140 , allowing us to print 15 example sets of Teacher Guides and Student Books of the CIVIC Inquiry Kits produced for NYC Public Schools for grades 8 and 11 to include with the letter requesting funds from potential donor.

The success of our organization depends on the support of donors, as K-12 schools are under-budgeted. Without your help, we cannot reach potential donors with an impactful message. Your skills will empower us to reach thousands of K-12 schools and advance LGBT+ equality.

Our mission

History UnErased is putting LGBTQ history in its rightful place--the classroom.

What we do

History UnErased's groundbreaking Intersections and Connections digital curriculum is the first and only LGBTQ-inclusive U.S. history curriculum for K-12 schools that contextualizes LGBTQ history and normalizes LGBTQ identities. Our holistic, non-judgmental, age-appropriate approach encourages critical analysis, develops historical thinking skills, and meets the needs of rising generations of students. In addition to the academic content, History UnErased also provides intellectually inspiring virtual professional learning facilitated by experts experienced in developing educators' proficiency and confidence in integrating and/or supporting LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum.
