As outlined in our current strategic plan, we are expanding our grant writing efforts to support the expansion of our programs for foster youth in Georgia. We are looking for additional research and advise on corporations and foundations to target as potential long-term partners and funders.
Increasing overall grant funds is an important aspect of Bloom Our Youth's 3-year expansion strategy. As we continue to grow our programs for foster youth in Georgia, additional corporate/foundation funds will help us to build the program capacity needed to serve twice as many foster youth by 2021.
We currently have a grant writing tool kit, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a list of research and current funders, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
One of Bloom's programs, The Bloom Closet, is a unique "mini-Macy's" for foster children to shop for free! It is decorated just like a store and many of the children don't realize it's not a "real" store. We even have different departments!
The mission of Bloom Our Youth (d.b.a. Bloom) is to "provide safe shelter and physical, educational, and emotional support to children and youth who have been the victims of abuse, neglect, or other tragic circumstances in order to strengthen them for the next phase of life." Bloom advocates for foster children and families using a three-pronged approach. These services: 1) recruit, train, and certify foster families through the Bloom Foster Parenting Program; 2) educate foster parents through Bloom University; and 3) provide free clothing and essential items to foster children and foster families through The Bloom Closet.
