Project details

What we need
  • Transcript(s) for up to 5 hours of audio/video recordings
Additional details

We are looking to make sure that all of the videos on our organization's YouTube channel have accurate captions (not just the auto-created ones) added to them. The majority of videos already do have captions, but there are around 14 that could use captions. For this project, we'd be looking for someone that'd be willing to caption around 3-5 hours worth of videos.

What we have in place
  • We currently have videos added to YouTube, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have marketing staff that can help, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $1,366 , allowing us to improve our marketing to reach more people with disabilities!

We believe in being as inclusive as we can as an organization, which means we need to make all our online content accessible as well. It's so crucial to our mission that we have all our videos captioned accurately, but it can be a time-consuming process and we have very few marketing staff members.

Our mission

Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD) strives to create a world where young people with disabilities will be able to live with dignity and pride in who they are, and to lead self-determined lives filled with purpose. To make this happen, we build the skills and abilities of young people with disabilities, and increase the inclusivity of workplaces, organizations, and communities.

Despite progress made in disability rights over the past 30 years, individual and institutional ableism still exist in the world today. Disability remains highly stigmatized, and people with disabilities continue to be denied equal opportunity, access, and independence. We work to change this status quo.

What we do

PYD programs all provide youth and young adults with disabilities with three key things: self-confidence, community, and purpose. We build disability pride, leadership skills, healthy relationship skills, community involvement, and ensure that youth are successful in school and in seeking employment.

We currently run programs focusing on one-to-one mentoring, online mentoring, theater arts and career readiness training. These programs largely serve youth in the Greater Boston area, but we are starting to expand our reach across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine through online mentoring.

In addition to our youth programming, PYD offers training and consultation to organizations around the country that are interested in becoming more inclusive to people with disabilities. We offer live trainings, online courses, webinars, and custom consulting.

Testimonials

Jenifer was wonderful. She did an excellent job transcribing our videos, communicated promptly and directly (even with a large time zone difference!), and was a joy to work with.

Transcription Project

I really did enjoy this project. Every video that I transcribed was a learning curve and I gained lots of knowledge and information. Steve was patient and kind and I'm glad to have met this project, it introduced me to PYD and I'm now a fan. This was awesome.
