Employee Handbook
Employee Handbook
Project details
What we need
- Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
- Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional details
We need the creation of a new Employee Handbook. With only 8 employees, we've never quite had the capacity to create an easy-to-use handbook that lists all of our policies for new employees, but we understand that this is essential for the efficient and transparent on-boarding process we hope to have.
What we have in place
- We currently have a staff member available for phone calls, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have copies of current policies, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to put those funds towards our Black Lung Organizer position, which we need to hire very soon.
This project is essential as we grow and bring on more staff members to expand our work and reach our longterm goals. It will help us be efficient, transparent, and prepared for the growth we expect in the coming years.

Our mission
The Appalachian Citizens' Law Center is a nonprofit law firm that fights for justice in the coalfields by representing coal miners and their families on issues of black lung and mine safety and by working with grassroots groups and individuals to protect the land and people from misuse and degradation caused by extractive industries. The Center handles individual cases and engages in strategic litigation and policy work in the areas of mine safety and health, environmental protection, legacy costs of extractive industries on the people, land and economy of the Central Appalachian region, and sustainable energy.
