Nimbus Dance is at a transformational moment for our organization. Jersey City's largest arts non-profit, Nimbus has a 14 year history of merging high caliber professional dance with community programming. In Spring 2020, Nimbus moves into a new 15,000 sq ft arts center, including a major partnership with Saint Peter's University. The Center will push the organization in new directions - volume, scale and nature of programs and visibility. Hence, we wish to rexamine our mission and vision.
What we have in place
- We currently have mission statement, bylaws, strategic plan, active board, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have an energized staff, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,248 , allowing us to invest in our new facility and staffing. We are perennially under-resourced (Jersey City lacks foundation, individual, and government funding sources) and savings on this scale will be very helpful.
It is important that as Nimbus enters this growth phase, we maintain a clear, cohesive identity and awareness of our mission. While growth may mean expansion into new areas, we not wish to get distracted by new programs and activities that do not serve our ultimate goals. We hope that this project will help our organization grow in a smooth, conscious and effective way.

Our mission
Nimbus Dance Works is committed to bringing dance into a dynamic relationship with the communities we serve, always acting in accord with our guiding principles of integrity, excellence, and community. We create and present programs of top-level artistry that inspire audience members while building close ties between individuals and communities. Nimbus creates programs that serve traditional dance audiences and create new ones in its home of Jersey City while gaining regional and national prominence.
