Recently we changed our name from the Friends of Independence National Historical Park to Independence Historical Trust. With the name change came redesigning and rebranding. We would like our new website to be easily accessible, highlight our past success, and bring attention to our new and ongoing projects. Additionally, our annual Gala is coming up in September and would like potential sponsors, donors, and guests to be able to see who we are, what we do, and why their support matters.
What we have in place
- We currently have a functioning website with our new name and logo, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have several big projects to highlight, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,762 , allowing us to help Independence National Historical Park with smaller needs and projects like providing security cameras and new flags around the park.
Our organization was founded in 1972 in preparation for the Bicentennial celebrations at Independence National Historical Park. In the past, we have been very active and well-known, but that has faded over time. We recently rebranded and changed our name to bring a new life into our organization. We would like our website to help solidify our identity as the philanthropic partner to Independence National Historical Park and show the work that we do as a park partner and our current projects.

Our mission
Independence Historical Trust, a 501(c) 3, is the official philanthropic partner of Independence National Historical Park, the national park that protects, preserves and interprets Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the 54 plus historical acres located in the City of Philadelphia.
As an independent charitable organization, we work with the National Park Service to support preservation and conservation projects, enhance education and public engagement, and protect the national treasures of the park for future generations.
What we do
The Independence Historical Trust (formerly Friends of Independence NHP) was created in 1972 and is the first Friends group in the National Park Service. Over our long history we have purchased or acquired over 1,000 artifacts for the park's permanent collections, fund-raised for large public spaces in the park and provided educational tours and programs to visitors and locals alike.
