Our mission

Mainsprings personifies the hope and joy seen in the eyes of East African children and families who are mastering the life skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty and create a sustainable future for themselves and their community.

Mainsprings provides compassionate, lasting innovative change via safe refuge, education, healthcare, and economic sustainability through agriculture. Like a nurturing family, Mainsprings creates an environment where children are empowered to develop lifelong skills. Day-in and day-out, with the partnership of staff, donors, volunteers, and local villages, Mainsprings makes possible a new, hopeful reality for East African communities.

What we do

Mainsprings aims to alleviate extreme poverty in rural Tanzania by using a campus model focused on education, healthcare, economic development through agriculture and refuge for vulnerable and orphaned girls. With one campus fully developed and a second campus in the primary stages of construction, we are hoping to affect the live of thousands of Tanzanians every year at each campus. Our fully developed flagship campus currently provides a nationally ranked primary and secondary schools for 400 boys and girls. It harvest over 2.5 tons of produce every month from a specially designed permaculture farm, as well as delivering several community seminars each year for local small hold farmers. The healthcare facility sees over 1,400 patients annually and works with the local government that provides primary care, specific health seminars and testing for the community. The refuge program doesn't just provide immediate relief in the forms of a home, healthcare and education, but also supports them all the way through tertiary education.
