Project details

What we need
  • Feedback on the current website’s layout, user functionality, mobile-friendliness, visual design, content, and other key features
  • Clear articulation of the Organization’s goals for the website
  • Recommendations for improvements to help achieve the Organization’s desired goals
  • Note: If you are looking for a more specific, in-depth audit of your website's design and usability, try our Website Usability Audit project
Additional details

We would like a website audit to help inform our redesign. We will be integrating our current website with HubSpot. We have a kids makerspace and a teen production lab and will be hiring a youth workforce to make corporate gifts using a 3D laser cutter. We want to map the journey of the audiences we see as our main "customers." These would be: youth, volunteers, corporate gift buyers and educators/parents. We would like an assessment that helps us generate great ideas for doing this.

What we have in place
  • We currently have an okay website that needs updating but clear goals in mind, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a team of three people who can work on this, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,350 , allowing us to create long term sustainability.

This project is important because we want to roll out a small catalog of products by this fall.

Our mission

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) is a multi-service organization with a primary focus on helping children, youth, and adults to build 21st-century skills. Our mission is to enhance the lives of the culturally and economically diverse residents of Maverick Landing, East Boston, and surrounding communities by:

+Motivating people to achieve economic, educational, and personal goals.
+Linking people to support systems.
+Creating leadership opportunities
+Strengthening youth, families, and community.

What we do

Our family support-based model of building 21st century skills runs from zero to adulthood:

Early Care (0-5) with a Family Nurturing program for parents and playgroups in Arabic & Spanish, implemented in collaboration with BPS Countdown to Kindergarten.
Children (7-12): after-school and summer program offering academic support, socioemotional development, and STEM engagement.
Teen Programs (13-18): a workforce development and social enterprise program that helps teens build 21st century skills to advance their educational and economic goals.
Adult Programs: English Innovations, a tech-infused language learning model; the Work, Tech and Life Skills program helps adults with digital job search, setting up a LinkedIn profile and digitizing resumes and portfolios through EastieCoders- a front end website development study group.

We have also begun to host regular social events to build social capital and community cohesion, supporting the success of our programs and providing us with volunteer support from the community.

Testimonials

Andy was an absolute pleasure to work with. He adapted to our changing needs and gave us very thoughtful feedback and a great review of our website and what changes needed to be made. He also gave us a structure for the revised site. He has a keen eye for visual aesthetics and a great marketing mind. Thank you Andy for kicking around so many great ideas with us. I know our final product will be better thanks to you!

Website Audit Project

It was a pleasure to work with Rita. She's very passionate about her cause and has a can-do and will-figure-it-out attitude that has taken her to even do front end engineering! Not a light skill to learn at all. Very impressive and glad MLCS has a great leader in Rita.
