What we'd like to talk about

We'd like strategic advice on building a donor database for a long-term building project (estimated cost $5 million) to serve the housing needs of developmentally-disabled adults.

Additional context

So far, a group of volunteers has raised over $200K for pre-development expenses over a number of years, but we are now in a different phase looking to start construction. We anticipate working with a local developer and will seek low-income housing tax credits, but will probably be responsible for 20%-30% of the construction cost ourselves. We'd like advice on creating a donor database targeting individual and corporate donors.

"Phone calls" are 1 hour, one-time calls with an organization. Learn the difference between volunteering on a Phone call and a Project here.

Our mission

The mission of Rachel's Haven of the Piedmont is to provide safe, affordable and independent housing for adults with developmental disabilities within a diverse, supportive community of workforce residents in the Belmont neighborhood of Charlottesville, Virginia.

What we do

We hope to develop 15 one and two bedroom apartments on the site of Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church's educational wing, including 4-6 apartments set aside for folks with intellectual disabilities. We envision a diverse community of people living as neighbors to one another and to an active, engaged congregation.
