This project will save us $11,794 , allowing us to create at least 1 or more earned income streams that will diversify our funding portfolio.

What We Need

  • Assessment and recommendations for income-generating activities that will complement the Organization's current mission and existing programs
  • Actionable steps necessary to implement recommendations, alongside estimates of upfront time and monetary investment required
  • Challenges and potential risks identified in pursuing the plan

How This Will Help

Today’s non-profits must have diverse income streams; A robust mix of fundraised, donated and earned income. Without a diverse portfolio the decision of one funder to stop funding an organization, could result in the elimination of a vital program service or the loss of a valuable employee. NBPC seeks to increase the amount of earned income generated to strengthen the diversity of its portfolio. We have existing products and services with growth potential, but we need your help to assess their viability to generate a higher and sustainable flow of income for the organization.

What We Have In Place

To get you started, we have identified four products and services to be assessed: online training courses, a business membership program, a fiscal sponsorship program, and video distribution to educational institutions. We have three years of financial information for existing services, as well as some user data. We have also identified existing models currently in the marketplace

Fun Fact

Our public tv series "AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange" has been hosted by Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe, as well as actors' Idris Elba, Anthony Mackie, Anika Noni Rose, and Yaya DaCosta. This season's host is Jussie Smollet from the hit show "Empire"

Since 1991, NBPC has invested more than $12 million dollars in iconic documentary content for public media broadcast and distributed hundreds of hours of historical, cultural and socially relevant content to PBS and community audiences. We have funded digital media content made exclusively for the web since 2006. NBPC’s professional development programs provide thousands of producers of color with resources and information needed to contend in an increasingly competitive industry. NBPC is the Executive Producer of the public television series "AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange", an anthology series featuring independent documentaries about the contemporary global black experience, now entering its eighth season. Here is a small sample of programs funded by NBPC: 180 Days: Hartsville Althea Through A Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People Out in the Night Black Folk Don't Counter Evoking the Mulatto
