Additional details
Palaver Strings is looking for someone to video record a performance of ours at the Boston Center for the Arts (539 Tremont Street Boston, MA 02116) on March 8th or 9th. Call time for either night is 5pm with the performance starting at 7pm. The concert features the songs and stories of older adults from the LGBTQ community among other classical pieces written by composers who identify as LGBTQ. Video is vital in order to capture the songs and lived experiences of the evening!
What we have in place
- We have received all media releases from those performing. All aspects of the performance are set, we're just missing a videographer, and a high quality camera.
The event takes place at 539 Tremont Street Boston, MA 02116 on March 8 at 7pm. We have other performances on March 8 at 2pm and March 9 at 7pm but would prefer the March 8, 7pm concert be filmed.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,383 , allowing us to use that money to support our musicians and also to continue programming concerts that raise awareness around under represented voices in our community.
Palaver Strings is a musician-led chamber orchestra dedicated to sharing music in diverse spaces that address social issues and promote dialogue. The musicians in the ensemble wear multiple hats and we often struggle to properly document our work especially when it comes to performances. Although we've been doing the Lifesongs Project for three years, we've never been able to capture a full formal performance through video. This would help us better recruit and fund for future projects.
Project plan
Our mission
Palaver Strings enriches lives by sharing music with diverse audiences in and beyond the concert hall.
What we do
As a musician-led ensemble, Palaver is driven by collaborative processes, through which its Co-Artistic Directors share musical and administrative leadership. While each member of the ensemble brings unique experiences to the table, they share a passion for taking classical music beyond the concert hall to engage with new and diverse audiences. In these personal and unconventional settings, Palaver uses music to address social issues, promote education and healing, and inspire peers and community to support the arts.
Testimonials
Christina was superb! She was extremely nice and easy to work while being flexible and independent. As a really small non-profit we don't have a lot staff to help oversee our volunteers. Christina jumped right and and shot beautiful videos for our concert helping us document our organization's work in ways that we haven't been able to in the past.
Palaver Strings was amazing to work with. This group is extremely talented and I was very impressed by the community outreach programs they are doing. It was a pleasure to work with this group!
