Project details

What we need
  • A concise, well-articulated letter (not exceeding two pages) to request funds from individual donors
Additional details

We are launching our first official donor campaign. Ideally we would like a letter to generate different levels of donations, from annual recurring gifts to program sponsors. Also a letter to ask for in-kind donations, like meals for our participants and equipment for our program.

What we have in place
  • We currently have our mission and fundraising goals, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have item wishlists, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,140 , allowing us to provide more services to youth

We need to secure a regular circle of people who want to give to our organization on an annual basis so we can continue to provide our programs to youth in need

Our mission

Surviving The Odds Project (STOP) positively impacts the lives of Marin County Youth from communities with the greatest need by engaging them in Musical Self-Expression.

What we do

The STOP program consists of twice-weekly workshops held over an 8-week period, culminating in a compilation album and live community performance. Program participants will shape their experiences into an original song and music video under the guidance of STOP staff and peer mentors who have graduated the program. First, they will be instructed in lyrical composition and song structure, learning how to write verses and hooks. Next, participants will be taught the basics of music video production and learn how to create storyboards for the outline of their music videos. Finally, participants will be trained on the essential aspects of public performance, including emotion and stage presence. STOP will provide meals and transportation support to all program participants for each workshop. In addition, ongoing feedback will be requested from participants to better tailor future programs to community needs and improve access to our services.
