Additional details
We have a program for men rebuilding their lives following incarceration. Our residential setting is their first stop upon being released from prison. We provide safe shelter, help them transition back to society, land employment, and find housing. We have an opportunity to receive state funding to enhance our employment program. We need a name, visual identity, and positive messaging. Our model is the Doe Fund, Ready, Willing, and Able. https://www.doe.org/
What we have in place
- We currently have a committed program, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a framework including some organizations we admire, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,817 , allowing us to keep resources directed at programs that help clients move forward in the community.
Our Clifton Residence program served about 200 men each year who are rebuilding their lives following incarceration. They face insurmountable barriers to securing employment and housing and adjusting to a world that's changed dramatically since they entered prison.
Nationally and in Minnesota, there is increasing attention addressing inequities in the prison system. A visual identity will help attract private and government funding.
Project plan
Our mission
180 Degrees provides emergency shelter and supportive programming for homeless and at-risk youth, girls who are victims of sexual exploitation, and men rebuilding lives following incarceration. Programs are located in the Twin Cities metro area including St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Excelsior, Minnesota and in two rural communities, St. Cloud and Rochester.
Founded in 1971, 180 Degrees' first program was a halfway house for ex-felons needing housing, employment, and connection. Through acquisition and programming, 180 Degrees expanded to include additional shelters. Almost all of our clients lives below the Federal Poverty guideline and 85% are people of color.
